Our promise
Risk Protected. Business Enabled.
Westlake is an insurance agency, not an insurer. We work out what you are exposed to, arrange cover with licensed underwriters, and stay with you when a claim is made.

Claims
Claims are where an intermediary proves itself.
We do not settle claims. The underwriter does. What we do is make sure a claim is notified correctly, documented properly, and followed up until it is decided.
What to do when you claimThe cover Kenyan employers ask about most
Under the Work Injury Benefits Act, 2007, an employer is liable to compensate an employee for injury or disease arising out of their employment. WIBA insurance is how that liability is funded. An uninsured claim is paid from the business.
| What it pays | Injury on duty, occupational disease, medical costs, and compensation for temporary or permanent incapacity, plus death benefits to dependants. |
|---|---|
| How it is priced | On declared payroll and the risk class of the work, not on a flat rate. Staff who are not declared are not covered. |
| What it excludes | Anything outside the Act: an injury that does not arise out of employment, or a claim above the policy limits. |

Questions
Questions we are asked
How much is car insurance in Kenya?
Third-party-only cover starts at around KES 7,500 in basic premium before the training levy, the policyholders compensation fund and stamp duty. Comprehensive cover is priced on the vehicle value, your excess and your claims history. We will give you an exact figure once we know the vehicle.
Is WIBA mandatory for employers in Kenya?
The Work Injury Benefits Act, 2007 places the duty to compensate an injured employee on the employer. Employers meet that duty by insuring. If you employ people, treat WIBA cover as part of the cost of employing them.
Do I have to come to the office?
No. Most of what we do happens on the phone or on WhatsApp. Come in if you would rather sit down with someone, at either office.
Can you cover a matatu, a lorry or a boda boda?
Yes. Commercial and PSV motor cover is one of the lines we arrange most often around Eldoret and Kitale. Fleet and single-vehicle cover are both available.
What happens if a premium is not paid?
A policy that is not paid can lapse, and a lapsed policy does not respond to a claim. Tell us early if cash flow is tight. There is usually a way to restructure the arrangement rather than lose cover.
Start with a question, not a form.
Tell us what you need covered and an adviser will come back with options. If you would rather talk, the number is the one on the office door.
